Jacqui Brewster from Sheffield Hallam University came to deliver training to the committee and Volunteer support.
Firstly Jacqui explained to new members that ChAD were formed in the year 2000 because people with learning disabilities were fed up of other people making decisions for them. The fact that ChAD were Independent was of great importance to allow them and the people they represent to make their own decisions.
We then went on to identify different behaviours that people display in various meetings and agreed which were and were not acceptable.
Jacqui said that for any group to be successful they need to work as a team , work together and respect each other. Here is Stewart and Pat doing a fun exercise to show how when something doesn’t seem possible on your own, team work makes it much easier ( unless of course you have extremely long arms like Raymond).
